Can Psychotherapists in Private Practice call themselves Entrepreneurs?

Yes!

A private practice is a business. A psychotherapist who makes this choice is letting go of the comfort of working in an organisation where marketing, admin and salaries are taken care of.

While going independent, the therapist faces financial risk and has to wear multiple hats beyond the role of a therapist in order to build a business which is profitable and does not not lead to burn out.

Business Owner. Entrepreneur. - Pick any word that you like, but pick something that acknowledges the non client facing roles you play in private practice.

If you find yourself hesitating to do so, perhaps try exploring the resistance to this- how do you feel about this identity? Where do these feelings come from?

Until next time,
