⚖️ Why Every Conversation Shouldn’t Come with a Price Tag

There's a growing conversation amongst therapists that providing input on someone’s project should always come with a fee, but in my view, this opinion often lacks nuance.

Conversations can do more than just provide immediate compensation—they can build meaningful connections that may lead to professional growth or career opportunities down the line.

For instance, startup founders frequently reach out to therapists for their insights when they’re still experimenting with an idea. At that stage, they may not have a product or any revenue, but a short conversation can lead to unexpected opportunities in the future, especially if there is a strong alignment of values.

Sometimes, these exchanges lead to relationships of mutual sharing. Is there something you can learn from the other person’s expertise?

I personally struggle with the idea that every conversation must come with a price tag. This mindset can be counterproductive to building communities and fostering relationships where people feel comfortable reaching out for the essential support we all need from time to time.

Have a different perspective? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Until next week,
