⚖️ Who Should Execute Your Professional Will?

This is the final edition in the mini-series on Professional Wills. Read the previous editions on introduction to professional wills and how to prepare for supporting clients in your absence.
There are several tasks that colleagues- who agree to be the executors of your professional will- will be taking on. Here are some considerations while choosing people for this role:
Involve more than one colleague: Having multiple people on board can ease the burden during what may be a difficult and emotional time for them as well
Choose those familiar with your work: Therapists that you have worked of or shared supervision spaces with can be a great resource as they are likely to be familiar with your therapeutic style and values.
Consider compensation: It can be thoughtful to make provisions in your will to compensate colleagues for their time and care work.
Write letters for them: These might be people that you are close to and perhaps share a personal relationship with. You can leave letters for them with things you'd like to say in that moment as an extension of your care.
Hope this mini-series delivered the insights without making you feel too heavy.
