⚖️What Happens when a Client is Late?

It can be tempting to extend a session as an expression of our care when clients are late. However, it is important to pause and interpret the client’s tardiness. Sometimes, there may be a genuine reason-an unexpected meeting, traffic, or tech issues.
But many other times, it may be worth reflecting on:
Why today?
Perhaps something happened in the last session or in their lives today?
Is this a pattern?
If it happens often, what might it reveal about their internal experience?
How else does this show up?
How might similar patterns play out in other areas of their lives?
Most importantly, it is crucial to end the session on time. Any exceptions to this should be made sparingly and with careful, well thought out reasoning.
How do you respond to clients who are late? I’d love to hear your experienced. Click ‘Reply’ and let me know.
Until next week,
