⚖️ What purpose does a Website serve?

What is the role of a website in the marketing efforts of a therapist? If your aim is to fill your caseload, a website can have two purposes-
1) Establishing Credibility and Trust:
When people receive a referral, they often want to know about the therapist before reaching out or making a decision to start therapy- a website can enable a professional introduction.
Curating details about yourself, such as- education, approach to therapy, work experience, blogs/articles you’ve written, connecting any professional social media profile- can help a prospective client to understand if they resonate with what you offer or experience sufficient trust or safety to take the next step.
However, people will reach the website only when you share the link or they are specifically looking for it, unless you work on SEO.
2) Generating Leads:
Websites can be used generate leads through ‘Search Engine Optimisation’ (SEO). SEO is a strategy to make the website rank high on Google’s search results, i.e. if someone searches for ‘Therapists near me’, your website ranks in the top 5 Google results. It involves publishing several strategic articles.
For a therapist running a small private practice- a decision will need to be made whether the efforts that go into it are worth the returns.
Currently, there is a new term called ‘Generative Engine Optimisation’, focused on getting higher rankings on AI’s answers.
Next week, I’ll share more about whether or not you should make one and how to go about it. Meanwhile check out mine: www.suvrita.com.
