⚖️Thinking of a career change?

Few days back, I shared about my recent career transition into Product Management. A couple of you have messaged me since then asking about the same, and over the next few weeks I will try my best to share insights from my journey. And at the end of it, an online meet where we can talk in more detail - please reply to this email if you’re interested in joining the same.

Take what I have to say with a pinch of salt, what worked for me may not be everyone’s cup of tea.

If you are in the early stages of contemplating a career pivot, I’ll suggest reflecting on a few questions to gain clarity on your motivations, priorities, and the practical steps required to make a successful shift:

  • Why do you want to shift your career?

  • How much time and effort are you willing to devote into this?

  • How close or far do you want to be from therapy/psychology?

  • Is there a field you are interested in/passionate about?

Product Management is just one example of a field where a background in psychology can be valuable- there are many more avenues out there.

If you don’t know what possibilities exist, start with expanding your understanding of the same. A great way to do that is to consciously socialize with people from different professions and learn about their work.

Over the coming weeks, I’ll share more about how I discovered that product management was the right path for me, ways to explore a new role , and various strategies for making a career shift.

If you have questions, feel free to reply to this email. And if you know someone who might benefit from this, please pass it along.

Until next week,
Suvrita
