⚖️Why do I write a newsletter?

This newsletter is going out to over 500 therapists today! 🎉Thank you for subscribing and reading what I have to say. If you have feedback on the newsletter, topics you’d like to learn more about- I’d love to hear from you.

Few weeks back a colleague asked me why I write a newsletter. Does it help in private practice in any way?

Initially, I started it to share what I had learned about private practice with other therapists. After doing workshops, this felt like a natural next step.

But, as often happens when you try something new, you end up discovering whether it's truly meant for you or not along the way.. And here are the reasons why I continue doing it consistently.

  • I enjoy writing. I have always preferred words over audio or video formats. And even though the newsletter is short, it lets me explore the nuances of different topics.

  • I learn a lot along the way. The process of reading, reflecting and formulating my thoughts to be able to write this has been an immensely helpful exercise. It has pushed me to engage with ideas I might not have otherwise and that has made a huge contribution in doing better work with my clients.

  • Occasionally, people write to me to tell me they find it helpful, which keeps me going!

  • It has also helped in building a ‘brand’. While there are no immediate financial returns, many people have come to know me and my work through what I write. When I want to introduce someone to the values that guide my work, I often just share the newsletter link.

Have questions/thoughts? Hit ‘reply’ and let me know.

Until next week,
Suvrita
