⚖️Navigating FOMO of not reaching 100K followers

When you see other therapists having follower counts in five or six digits, it can easily trigger FOMO. To navigate these feelings, here are a few questions to consider:

  • What are your goals with social media?
Are you using it to raise awareness, attract more clients, or pursue other professional objectives? Answering this is key because your goals will shape how you use social media.

For example, if your goal is to add five new clients to your small practice, aiming for a six-figure following may not be necessary. If you are hoping to be able to market a course to a wider audience in the future, a bigger following would make sense.

  • What core values do you want to uphold as you navigate the algorithm?

The algorithm can indeed be tricky, and understanding it is important for growing a large following. However, staying true to your values will help ensure you don’t compromise what matters most to you.

  • How does social media presence impact your therapeutic work?

How might a specific client perceive one of your posts? Could it potentially affect the therapeutic relationship? I encourage every therapist to regularly reflect on their social media presence .

What are your thoughts on this?

Until next week,
