December has started, is your Calendar suddenly a little empty?

It is common for therapists to experience a dip in caseload during the festive season- Diwali, Christmas, New Year—a pattern seen both in India and abroad. In India, the December dip is fairly recent because companies have started giving the last week off and several people are opting to take breaks during this time. These slowdowns can create anxiety and affect our therapeutic work.
But, by anticipating these fluctuations and planning ahead, we can ease some of the stress of these seasonal lulls. Some ways to navigate these-
Plan Your Breaks: If you take yearly breaks, consider scheduling them around these slower seasons.
Remember the 10% Rule: Outside of festive dips, using the 10% rule can help stabilize your caseload and income throughout the year.
Catch Up on other Tasks: Use this time to tackle admin tasks like organising accounts or background clinical work such as reading, or refining case conceptualizations. The last quarter of the year is also a fantastic time for an yearly review of your practice!
Have more ideas? I’d love to hear.
Until next week,
Suvrita
