⚖️ Tips to start building your website

This is the last edition in a 4 part series on Websites for Psychotherapy Practitioners. Read Part 1: What purpose does a website serve, Part 2: Do you need a website and Part 3: How to build a Website.
If you’re confused about where to begin the website design process, consider these three things-
1) Domain: Domain is the address of a website on the internet. It is what you type in the browser to get a specific website. Eg ‘www.google.com , www.suvrita.com. You will need to buy the domain of your choice and pay an yearly fee for the same.
Check availability of domains at: https://www.godaddy.com/en-in/airo
Pro-Tip: If there is a practice name you are in love with or you want to build a website with your name as the domain in the future, check its availability and buy it asap. You can build a website in the future, but if someone else buys the domain meanwhile, you will need to buy it from the new owner which is expensive and re-selling is not guaranteed.
2) Target Audience: What is the purpose of your website? Generate leads for your practice? Marketing for your course? Get projects? Anything else?
Accordingly have a clear definition of the target audience as it will help you crystallise what pages and content need to be on it.
3) Research: Look at the websites of at least 5-10 other people/businesses with target audience similar to yours. Pay attention to the pages they have, content in these and feel of the design.
If this series was the nudge you needed to build your website, I’d love to hear.
Until next week,
